Question Time
Sometimes politics can be funny. During Question time today, Costello (Federal Treasurer) enacted his interpretation of a certain rockstar turned MP, Peter Garrett. Parliament breaks up into laughter, and in the aftermath, the Member for Lingiari (NT), Warren Snowdon gets sent out by the Speaker. I don’t know how the Speaker keeps a straight face.
It’s good to see the Opposition took it well, describing Costello’s performance as light-hearted, and in “good spirit of the Parliament”. For the real geeks, here’s a snippet of the above from the draft minutes:
(12) Mr Slipper, 2:38:17 PM, to Mr Costello (Treasurer)Member ordered to withdraw
Speaker ordered Mr Snowdon to withdraw for 1 hour for disorderly behaviour, 2:42:43 PM, Point of order, Mr Albanese, 2:42:58 PM, Mr Costello, 2:44:01 PM
